Notice of Air Liquide annual gas cylinder audit
Dear, Principal Investigators / Lab Managers,
Air Liquide (the U of C’s Preferred Supplier of Medical and Non-Medical Gases) will be conducting its Annual Gas Cylinder Audit the week of November 29, 2021
The University’s agreement with Air Liquide provides for yearly lease charges based on the number of cylinders on hand at the time of the audit.
If a gas cylinder has been leased during the year but returned prior to the audit, no lease charge will be administered. However, all gas cylinders counted at the time of the audit (even if empty) will be charged the applicable lease fee.
In order to minimize lease charges, it is recommended that cylinder quantities be kept to a minimum, and that cylinders that are no longer required be returned to Air Liquide.
Any unused or empty cylinders should be returned to Distribution Services, HSB808 no later than Friday November 26, 2021.
The lease fee is $15.00 for each gas cylinder. This charge also applies to each Liquid Nitrogen/ Liquid Argon containers and Dry Ice totes.
Due to COVID, Air Liquide was not able to conduct their gas cylinder audit for 2020, so they will be invoicing the 2020 and 2021 counts together. Example: If after the 2021 gas cylinder count there were 10 cylinders in your area/lab, you will be charged $150.00 (15.00 per cylinder) for 2020 and $150.00 for 2021 as well.
So it is highly encouraged that you return any empty or unwanted gas cylinders to Air Liquide prior to the audit.
At the completion of Air Liquide’s gas cylinder audit, the lease fee for each cylinder found at your location will be charged to your IDB card the next time your staff purchase supplies from Distribution Services.
