Implementation of outcomes and incorporation of translational research to optimize the outcomes of children with epilepsy
Primary Area of Research:
My past research efforts span from the testing of new anti-epileptic drugs to outcome studies from epilepsy surgery to the genetic epidemiology of epilepsy in the community setting. Current interests are focused on developing care pathways and statistically meaningful outcome measures for several purposes. The first is a desire to improve the quality of life for children with epilepsy. The second is to collect deep phenotypic profiles that will be essential for understanding phenotype-genotype relationships. The third is to provide a baseline onto which novel therapies derived from translational laboratory studies can be tested. In addition, I have an interest in determining the effect of metabolic therapies in individuals with autism who may or may not have epilepsy as a co-morbidity.
