About our speaker

Tim Oberlander

Dr. Tim Oberlander, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Tim Oberlander's research seeks to understand how early life experiences shape stress and related behaviors during childhood that sets pathways that shape the early origins of self-regulation. His work provides strong evidence that early life influences child behavior in ways that reflect a remarkable capacity we have for plasticity and demonstrates that even in the face of adversity, some children do very well. Dr. Oberlander’s work is driven by curiosity to understand how and why this happens, and a determination to identify modifiable factors that can be used to improve developmental health.
