Research summary
Dr. Lin Yang has a multidisciplinary background, including kinesiology, statistics and epidemiology. Her research utilizes big data to improve population health by creating innovative interventions to make physical activity an easy and accessible option for population-wide disease risk reduction.
One research area that I have a track record and particular interest in is the impact of environmental factors on birth outcomes. I have conducted a record linkage study in Austria and a systematic review to generate evidence on the negative impact of geographic factors on birth outcomes (small for gestational age, pre-term birth). Given the geographic variation across Canada and within Alberta, I'd like to continue this line of research with ACHRI, also to expand the scope of my current research in this area by including health outcomes during childhood.
