Our Team
Our multidisciplinary team of researchers is studying the transmission, clinical course, immune response and genetic factors related to COVID-19 in Alberta children, with a focus on discovering and describing information that will contribute to control of the pandemic.
Study Team
Dr. Jim Kellner, MD
Dr. Kellner is leading a team of scientists and physicians to study children with COVID-19. He is a professor in the departments of Paediatrics, Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious Disease, and Community Health Sciences at the Cumming School of Medicine, and a member of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI). He is a member of the Leadership Group of the national COVID-19 Immunity Task Force.
Dr. François Bernier, MD
Dr. Bernier and his colleagues will delve into the unique bar code of each instance of the virus itself. He is the head of the Department of Medical Genetics and professor in the Department of Paediatrics at the CSM and an ACHRI physician-scientist who is leading the genomics arm of the study.
Joslyn Gray, Research Manager
Joslyn Gray has been with the Pediatric Infectious Diseases research team, ACHIEVE, for most of her career. In her role as the ACHIEVE Research Manager, she coordinates all aspects of the planning and conduct of numerous single-centre and multi-centre clinical research studies and clinical trials.
