This annual event brings some of the world's leading researchers in the areas of neurodevelopment and children's mental health to present their research to the Owerko Centre research community and the general public.

This monthly series has covered a range of topics on neurodevelopmental research and clinical practice. 

This presentation, given in April 2023, explored the strengths, challenges, and joys that students with neurodiverse conditions can experience in the school setting and provided support strategies for students with certain neurodevelopmental conditions in a round table discussion format.

The First 2000 Days Network

The First 2000 Days Network was a collaborative response of community members, organizations, professionals with a passion for making progress on linking, aligning and leveraging efforts in the Early Childhood Development (ECD) system to enable collective action toward improving ECD outcomes.

Facing Your Fears Program, Global News

The Facing Your Fears program is designed to help children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) overcome their anxiety. The program is an established cognitive behavioural therapy geared towards youth with high-functioning ASD. Brought to Calgary by experts at the Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI) and several clinics within Alberta Health Services, the program helps kids identify their worries and tackle them head-on.

Pharmacogenetics Research Supports Children & Adolescents

Medication can affect kids in different ways and there are some children who will either not improve or will suffer an adverse reaction. For kids already trying to manage anxiety or depression, it’s not healthy. For their helpless parents, it’s heartbreaking. Scientists now know answers lie in the child’s genetic makeup, and research at the new Centre for Child & Adolescent Mental Health will explore new frontiers of precision medicine that could reshape the way healthcare specialists care for kids.
