The Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation inspires our community to invest in excellence in child health, research and family-centred care.
Partnership with Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation
Through the generous support of the community, our scientists and clinicians are given the resources to discover and innovate, ensuring that children here and around the world have the best possible life-long health. Our institute is able to deliver excellence in child health research because of this ongoing support and partnership. We are so grateful for the support of the Foundation and its donors.
ACHRI was founded in 2009 as a partnership between the University of Calgary, Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation. It is the shared vision of our partners to support a wide range of research programs in the area of child and family health and wellness.
Our membership is made up of nearly 320 committed researchers who are passionate about our children’s health and well-being. Some of them work in laboratories, while others are practicing health care providers at various hospitals, clinics and in the community. Their shared goal is to make a difference in the lives of our children and their families through new discoveries, better treatments and public health policies.
By leading a wide range of research programs in these priority themes, our researchers make tangible improvements in the health and well-being of children in our communities.
ACHRI supports its members by offering state-of-the art research space, leading-edge technology, expert research services and funding support. The Institute also invests in the next generation of researchers through graduate and summer studentships, and research and travel grants.
Mission and vision
ACHRI will foster healthy biological and psychosocial trajectories for babies, children and youth through excellence in research, innovation, knowledge translations and education.
We envision a healthier and more prosperous future for our children through research.
