It was an evening of reconnection and celebration. On Sept. 27, 2014, more than 100 alumni, students, faculty, staff, family and friends joined together at Calgary’s historic Ranchmen’s Club to commemorate 40 years of nursing education at the University of Calgary. Included in the event was the inaugural Marguerite Schumacher Memorial Alumni Lecture presented by Master of Nursing graduate Jo-Ann Hnatiuk (MN’01).

The program included a mingling reception before the lecture where guests renewed acquaintances. The formal portion of the event kicked off with a welcome from Kate Wong, Faculty of Nursing Alumni Committee president, introductions from Dianne Tapp, dean, Faculty of Nursing and a re-reading by Faith Nixdorff (BN’74) of her convocation address from 40 years ago. Following Jo-Ann’s lecture on the life of a military nurse, guests concluded the evening with dessert, coffee, more conversation and the promise to meet up again next year.
