The All Our Families Study is a longitudinal cohort study about pregnancy, parenting and child development, led by Dr. Suzanne Tough, PhD.

APrON (Alberta Pregnancy Outcomes and Nutrition) Study

Led by Dr. Nicole Letourneau, PhD, APrON is a study involving thousands of women from Calgary and Edmonton, designed to analyze the relationship between maternal nutrient status during pregnancy and maternal mental health and child health and development.

ATTACH (Attachment and Child Health) Program

Led by Dr. Nicole Letourneau, PhD, the ATTACH™ Parenting Program, aims to help parents learn two very essential skills called Mentalization and Reflective Function (RF), which aids in promoting and maintaining a secure attachment with their children.

BrainKids Lab

Led by Dr. Kara Murias, MD, PhD, the BrainKids Lab aims to better understand cognitive and behavioural outcomes in children with neurodevelopmental conditions.

Led by Dr. Catherine Lebel, PhD, the Developmental Neuroimaging Lab generates and shares knowledge of brain development across childhood that serves to help prevent, identify and treat brain and mental health problems in children.

Kids Helping Kids is an initiative of the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation and celebrates young fundraisers whose efforts support ground-breaking research, state-of-the-art equipment and the family-centred programs that make the Alberta Children’s Hospital world-class.

The Owerko Centre is proud to steward the Little Red Reading House and Little Red Reading Van. The Van will be making a visit to the Owerko Centre and guests can explore its mobile library and enjoy story times.

Pregnancy During the Pandemic (PdP) Cohort

Led by Dr. Gerald Geisbrecht, PhD, the PdP Study is seeking to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the mental and physical wellbeing of pregnant individuals and their babies.

Prediction, Prevention & Interventions for Preterm Birth (P3) Cohort

Led by Dr. Amy Metcalfe, PhD, Dr. Donna Slater, PhD, and Dr. Lara Leijser, MD, PhD, the P3 Cohort explores ways to predict which women will deliver preterm, provide opportunities to prevent preterm birth, improve health outcomes for children who are born preterm and their families and help families cope following the birth of a preterm child. 


Many research studies rely on community participants with lived experience. The Owerko Centre gratefully acknowledged the thousands of individuals and families who have given their time to make an impact and participate in research.
