Go from seeing networking as a chore to being equipped with fun, easy, and effective ways to build connections for your current and future career aspirations!
Have you ever been told that “networking is important”?
While the underlying sentiment might be true, you could be one of the many people who feel resistance to the concept of networking. It can be seen as transactional rather than genuine, and it can feel like something that “you should do” in addition to all your other commitments as a student.
Let’s discard the idea of “networking” and focus on how to make genuine human-to-human connections in a way that is fun and that can support you during your time in university and beyond. Whether it is making more friends or connecting with more people in your desired career path, making meaningful connections can be easier than you think.
In addition to the 2-hour interactive workshop, the facilitator will offer an individual 30-minute strategy session to review a trainee’s Connection Plan.
Presented in partnership with HBI REALISE and Snyder Institute. Register here.
Friday, November 29 from 9 am to 12 pm
Elevate your scientific figures by mastering design techniques that enhance readability, clarity, and impact.
This hands-on workshop is tailored for graduate students and postdocs who want to take their scientific figures to the next level. We’ll dive into the core principles of impactful data visualization, covering audience targeting, intentional design, and practical formatting. Through real-world examples from published studies, you’ll see firsthand how thoughtful figure design can dramatically improve both the readability and interpretability of your work.
In the second half, participants will engage in collaborative figure redesign sessions, applying the concepts discussed to their own research visuals.
This is not a software-specific or technical workshop. The strategies you’ll learn are universally applicable across all graphing and data analysis programs, ensuring you can create figures that stand out, regardless of the tools you use.
Presented in partnership with HBI REALISE and Snyder Institute. Register here.
