Nursing professor named one of 22 UCalgary Research Excellence Chairs

Dr. Nicole Letourneau recognized as exceptional scholar in new program to recognize UCalgary research leaders

Congratulations to UCalgary Nursing professor Dr. Nicole Letourneau on her most recent achievement as one of the UCalgary’s first Research Excellence Chairs, designed to recognize the university’s distinguished scholars in a substantial way.  Letourneau’s transformational methods of working in the area of children and families has profoundly influenced the entire field. Her research is unusual in its integration of traditional, translational and medical science with her social science perspective and her perspective as a nurse.

In May, Letourneau and her team launched the CHIR-funded Alliance against Violence and Adversity (AVA) Health Research Training Platform, an addition to her 20-year-old Child Health Intervention and Longitudinal Development (CHILD) Studies Program.  This allows her to make significant contributions to research training across Canada.

We are excited for what is to come next and we know it will be appropriate, innovative, community-engaged and designed for impact. Congratulations Nicole!
